Shown here the moat surrounding the Forbidden City. It can be seen upon exiting on the east side (towards the south end) of the Palace Complex. This is looking north at the moat. The Forbidden City was named as such because only the Emperor and his imperial staff were once allowed inside the place. (date: 2004-10-07)
