Description
This is one of the "washes" in the Palm Springs area. These are broad channels that fan out from the mountains like veins, carrying water away when it rains. This picture was taken from a car on Portola Avenue. Streets must dip down into the washes to cross them, which makes them dangerous during rainstorms. (date: 2001-05-20)
